Hi .
Just got back from a few days away and i have a letter asking me to go for a chest x ray .Ihave no idea why. I rang the hosp and my onc not there till thur so i rang my breastcare nurse up and she said its not a usual thing to happen . I went to a walk in clinic as they tested my bloods as i had a sore throat and a doc listened to my chest then sent me away with some better mouthwash and said everything was fine no infection. That was july 21 and apparently he asked for me to get an appointment for a chest x ray. There is no letter as to why so the chemo nurses or my breast care nurse had no idea why he should do that.
In the meantime the secratery of who is going to be my radiologist asked the radiologist (as my onc not there till thur)why i had been called for a chest x ray and he said its routine to see how my chemo is going.Ive had my op lump removed with clear margins no nodes so why an x ray?
Really worried now and mind working overtime and nobody can help me till thur .Im sure this is not normal hope they are not thinking this has spread .xx
Hi Lisha
Worrying, but don’t forget that it wasn’t your onc that requested the x-ray. Also, I may be wrong, but think they normally do a CT scan, rather than an x-ray, if they think it’s spread.
Hope someone who knows more will be along soon.
Dx
Thanks for your reply DJOO7 .Hope your right about the CTscan.Just cant wait for thur to come i know i will worry now as i cant get any answers .There is nothing at all in my notes about it except this doc wanted me to have one xx
Hi Lisha, I have found you! Sorry to see that the lack of decent communication has had you worried. He sounds like someone I have seen but I’ll save that story for another day ! It sounds to me that he is just being ultra careful and making absolutely sure there is no infection. Prob erred on the side of caution after you left.Bad practice as we are all so anxious and imagine the worst scenario. Hope u got the chemo today ! Let me know you’re ok xx Andrea
Oh dear what a pity to worry you like this - I had a chest x-ray when I went to the oncy outpatients with a chest infection, they did it straight away (took me there in a wheelchair lol!)and gave me the results as soon as I got back to the ward.
Hope they can set your mind at rest quickly on the results.
xx
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your replies. Sat waiting to see my onc on thur i was nearly sick i was worried so much. When i got in there she looked to find the doc had put down i had gone in with breathlessness following my radiotherapy!!! Couldnt believe it had been to lakes for two days to cheer my OH and me up as had a really down 3weeks and really freaked out to return to the letter. At least it wasnt bad news so calmed down now. Thanks for your support girls. Andrea so sorry just needed a break of the forums for a bit as i tend to read all the sad things and sit and cry. Its a great support and we do all need this but sometimes i just feel so sad for everyone. Love Sharon xx
Sorry forgot to say no chest x ray needed. I havent even had radiotherapy yet. Only just had EC3 on thur. Needless to say it had been a mistake! !! Hope my mess understandable bit early for me and still quite tired from the effects of thur xx
Lisha, out of hours GPs and Locums panic about everything related to BC treatment (I had a similar experience, but that is also another story). It can be terrifying and it makes me really cross as we are so vulnerable when we’re having treatment. Basically they want to cover their own a***s! So glad it turned out ok for you, love Mo x
Thanks Moser ,
Yes it really does scare you its only us on here that realise how much!!! Thanks for your kind words xx
