Really worried, scared & anxious ...is this a sign of padgets disease/ breast cancer ?

So ive had what I thought was a skin tag just next to my actual nipple on my right breast for ages (I can’t even think how long) but lately it’s got bigger and Doesn’t look like a skin tag any more, when I showered the other day I noticed it was reaaalllyyyy dark / ️black …it’s always been the same is colour of my nipple…,so I was shocked and thought I’d get it checked out over e next few weeks. Yesterday I woke up and saw it was BRIGHT red and oozy and sore …I have loads of pain like heat and pain in my breast now, it’s really uncomfortable and the pain isn’t easing at all.   and I can’t seem to find definitvily online what it could be. Is this a sign of breast cancer sometimes? I sometimes have discharge from my nipples but nothing out of the ordinary of late…but this growth thing is so sore and a weeping and bright red now …has anyone experienced or seen anything similar to this ? Im trying not to google too much…but that ended in me spending hours and hours on Google last night getting worked up. One thing that stuck out was possibly padgets disease…

Im happy to post a photograph if that helps at all…and I will be going to the doctors tomorrow but right now Im really anxious and would like some opinions or guidance to sites that might help me.

Hi Artgirl,

All you need to do, is go to your Dr first, so it’s good you already have an appointment.

Your Dr may refer you to the Breast clinic, which is usual procedure, so don’t read anything into it if that happens.

It’s not really possible to say what it is, as any breast change can be down to a number of things, fortunately, bc is the least likely & mostly there is another reason for whatever the change is.

You are right about google, it won’t give you the answer & only tends to make any anxiety worse, so it helps to stay from it at this stage.

There’s nothing more you need to do now, just see what the dr says & if in any doubt about it, ask to be referred to the Breast clinic, where they will get to the bottom of it.
