Hi , this is my first post on here . I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Feb . I’ve already had a lumpectomy and breast reduction. Unfortunately , it was bigger than first thought and they couldn’t get a good clearance so I have now had an axillary clearance on Thursday . I had a drain in for a few hours but it came out and I went home . Today , I have noticed a sloshing sound in my breast / axilla. It’s not to sore or hot , but it does sound weird !! My partner can hear it to . Is this normal ?
Hi Kate
I had the same experience after my margin shave. They sent me home from hospital with a letter for my GP saying I had a large cavity which was quite likely to get infected. When I turned over in bed, I could hear the fluid slosh, I glugged like a hot water bottle! But it didnt get infected or cause any problems, and eventually it went away. So hopefully yours isn’t anything to worry about, though you could ask your BCN what she thinks. But if you don’t have a temperature and the wound seems normal, hopefully it’s okay.
Call the surgeon. Sounds like fluid has built up. They can drain it
