I am 53 years old and was diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram. I am to have a wide local excision accompanied by a breast reduction in 3 weeks time. I will also have a sentinel node biopsy. I expect this to be followed with a course of radiography. The Breast Cancer Nurse has been so helpful. She visited me at home and answered my questions and went through the process with me. Of course I can remember very little! I have been fo all my pre ops. The nurse said that I would have 2 injections pre operation (and one during). One of which involves an injection through the nipple. This is the only thing in the process so far to make me really squirm… has anyone experienced this (or the WLE with breast reduction)?
I intend to work right up until the op as long as I am feeling OK. Work seems to take my mind off the whole rotten thing! (I am a teacher).
Hi if the injection you mean is the nuclear injection i had mine today as i am having my op tomorrow. Please do not worry about it as no one could be more scared then me when i have any injection but apart from a little sting you really do not feel anything.
wishing you lots of luck for the future
