Hi I have just been diagnosed with Intermediate DCIS a day after my 50th Birthday and I’m reaching out to people who understand the scary road I’m now on. I’m waiting to see the surgeon and for a date for surgery which I have been told will be 4 eeeks roughly later?
Hiyer Karen,
Reaching out right on back to you ! ‘Welcome’ to Breast Cancer Now forum - Welcome in inverted commas because its not a place anybody wants to be visiting but its a great thing to have if you need to visit I was diagnosed, had surgery and treatment at 47 (6 1/2 years ago), so not so dissimilar to your age now. Most people here will understand how terrifying those early stages after diagnosis are, particulary before surgery and the treatment plan is in place (once you have your dates and treatment plan some control and purposeful/positive forward action makes things somehow seem less psychologically challenging). Everything is the unknown for you right now, and so many thoughts must be going through your head, take strength from the many thousands who have been before you and keep posting here where you will meet so many women at the same stage as you and many years ahead of you :)))
Hi Karen
Just answered once & lost it ha …
Stay positive ,use this forum I used it 6 years ago & it was my life line .
The waiting time & run up to surgery I found the worse part, once everything got going I felt more settled .
Good luck xx
