Recently diagnosed.

Hi everyone
Another newbie I’m afraid but having read many of the posts on the forum it would appear thet I’m in good company.
Went to my local breast clinic at the beginning of November with yet another cyst and they found a suspicious lump on mammogram. Following diagnosis I opted to have pre-op sentinel node biopsy using micro bubbles which they are working on at my local hospital. Thankfully they have come back clear. On Friday I had WLE and removal of a couple of nodes (just to make sure)and I’m now recovering from that. Have a follow up appointment next week so will know where I go next then.
It’s been a scary journey but everything has happened so fast that I sometimes wonder if it’s for real.
Best wishes to you all.

Hi Alison
I know how you feel I’m about 2 weeks ahead of you but it happened very qyuickly for me too following a routinue mammogram. I had my op results last week - lymph nodes clear but grade 3 cancer. I now have to go down the chemo route unfortunately and am currently waiting for an oncologist appointment. Going back to work on thursday for a while as fed up of being at home. Its all a bit shocking really as it certainly didn’t feature in any of my future plans! Still stay positive and I’m sure we will get through it,
Best wishes
Maggie

Hi Maggie
It’s been a bit of a whirlwind, hasn’t it? I don’t feel lucky to have been diagnosed but feel that if I hadn’t had the cyst it could have been at least another year until it was found and who knows how much further on it would have been. It definitely wasn’t around just over 2 years ago when I had my previous mammogram.
Good luck with the chemo.

Hi all

Beginning to feel more “normal” at last. The combination of the anaesthetic and Morphine really knocked me for six. My scars are a little tender but look ok so probably just part of the healing process.
Need to start doing more as I still don’t have much of an appetite.
Have follow up appointment on Wednesday.Just want to get it over with so that I know what comes next.

Had post op follow up yesterday and couldn’t have had better news. They completely removed a 14mm lump and my lymph nodes are clear. Phew!!!
Also saw the Oncologist and will start radiotherapy early January. Have had blood taken to check my hormone levels so that decision can be made on whether I need Tamoxifen or Arimidex.
Best wishes to you all
