I have had this surgery with also removal of 2 lymph nodes. All ok except I am very tired. Didn’t expect this. I have a seroma which doesn’t help but thought I would be back to normal by now (one week). Any experiences of this?

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Glad to hear that you are the other side of your op and recovering.
What you have to remember is that you have had a general aneasthetic and that will take time to get over so dont be too hard on yourself. I remember it taking a couple of weeks before I started to feel as if I was getting over the aneasthetic. I found that taking in plenty of fluid helped with the fatigue.

Hi Nipper,
As ladybowler says, be kind to yourself, there will be lots of thoughts going through your mind about what you think you should be able to do, but this wasn’t a small biopsy, a WLE is still a major operation, and general anaesthetic can stay in your system for 4 - 8 weeks (depending on the amount you received, I think).
I underwent 3 operations within the space of 4 months last year (2 for the BC), so would just like to suggest that you give yourself time, take it easy and, as ladybowler says keep up the fluid intake - try drinking 2 litres of squash or water a day if you can. Things will get easier, but if you try and rush it now, the effects may take longer to disperse.
Good luck x
I also had WLE with full clearance three weeks ago and I’m nowhere near back to normal, had two seromas and now developed cording.
My friends keep reminding me this major surgery, and to take time to recover, they know I normally am on the go all the time, but unfortunately I need further surgery next week, so that will put me back again.
It’s taking me a long time to accept that life and my abilities have changed, especially as it’s affected my dominant arm. I still can’t drive due to the level of pain I have from the ANC. The fatigue is hard to manage, and I’m used to being tired as I work nights!
But on the plus side it is giving me more qua!ity time with my family and we’ve got out family games and jigsaws to do together, when I would normally be at work
