Recovery and Returning to work and what next?

Recovery and Returning to work and what next? I am currently at home recovering from surgery which took place on the 6th December 2006.I had an 11 1/2 hour op in which i had a Bilateral Mastectomy for DCIS in my right breast and immediate reconstruction using the Diep flap (tummy) . I was diagnosed with BRCA2 in July 2006 hence the removal of both breasts.I feel really quite well in myself but am still sore and stiff around my upper cheast area, under my arms, diaphram and tummy. I have been told i am doing well by my consultant although i have had some complications around the area where my areola was removed. When did others return to work after this op? i know i am not physically well enough at the moment - not driving yet either, but the said it was about 6 weeks recovery. I have been signed off by my GP till the 5th Feb. Also what happens next? I have been told the results of my mastectomy were clear other than the DCIS picked up by the Mammogram but i have not seen the Breast Consultant since he performed the op ( i was of course asleep!) and i have only been dealt with by the Plastic Surgery Consultant. My Breast Care Nurse said i would never need any more check ups! That does not sound right to me! Help!
