Has anyone had a recurrence after a bilateral mastectomy? I’ve been told 5-10% of breast tissue can remain after this op, but not sure where this would be. I have had recon with implants and wonder how I would identify a recurrence.
Any thoughts?

As I understand it, a recurrence would manifest itself in the skin:
I had a (skin) recurrence in my reconstruction…It’s hard to miss and is usually at the (biopsy) site if primary or along the scar. There is about a 1/4 inch of breast tissue left in a skin sparing mascectomy…mine came back as satellte skin nodules.
