My Mum underwent treatment for breast cancer - lumpectomy, followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy - which she completed last March.
I’ve just found out that Mum was referred back to the breast clinic last week - Wednesday - as there had been some hardening of skin around breast area. After a scan she had some fluid drained from her breast and a biopsy taken. The results of biopsy are not expected until next week but mum very anxious and convinced that cancer has returned. Not sure if this is “normal” or “routine” as I know from the website site that there are lots of different breast conditions, and I presume this is why they’ve taken biopsy, but would love to hear from anyone who’s been in similar situation as finding it hard to put mum’s mind at rest.
Thanks

Hi Alison
I was dx last Sept grade 3 Her2 had WLE and lymph nodes removed 7/21 involved had 6 chemo finishing Feb and just finished 25 Rads also have had 6 out of 18 Herceptin. A few weeks ago a red patch appeared on my other boob and a week later there was a flat swelling underneath ( but no pain ) i was so scared and feared the worst even though both my onc and breast surgeon both did’nt think it was anything serious but had it checked out to make sure , i had mam / scan and biopsy last week and the swelling turned out to be inflamatory due to an infection ( although they are not sure what kind of infection it is so they are doing more tests on the tissue but have assured me its not cancer and have told me not to worry ) I can fully understand your mums fears and i hope the outcome is good and like me she is lucky to have family who cares
GOOD LUCK MIZZY xxxxxx
