Reduce ec dose , stop or move onto next one?

Hey guys ,Has anyone ever had their ec dose reduced or stopped ? it’s only my first treatment , but the low moods and anxiety are consistent with this and I’m still really struggling :frowning: next treatment meant to be on wed

I’m meant to be doing 3 ec 3 doce - 3 weekly

I already suffer with mental health/ anxiety so this isn’t a good mixture

I’ve wrote everything down to speak to oncologist about beforehand to see what he says next week

Heard with the docetaxal it shouldn’t really affect the mood x

Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling rubbish.

I had 4 EC treatments, fortnightly. The dosage was reduced on my second (50%) and third (75%) treatments as my blood work showed that I hadn’t quite bounced back. The final EC was back to 100%, I think because I had delayed by a week to go to an event.

Your oncologist will discuss all the side effects with you, as well as the results of your bloods, at your pre treatment appointment. Definitely share how you’ve been feeling.

good luck x

Did you have much of a difference with the reduction in doses x

I can’t tell if the dose reduction helped or I just learned to manage the side effects better. Subsequent cycles were definitely better, but I think most of that was learning to take the medication at the right times (my main issue was vomiting).

I too also suffer with my mental health and anxiety.

Think we may have spoke in another group.

I will follow your journey as we seem identical

Hope you feel better soon xx

Sorry to hear this. I know of others who have had their dose reduced and it’s had a positive impact, in terms of managing side affects. As others have said, your oncologist will review your side affects with you & bloods etc and assess from there. Always advocate for yourself too x

Yes, Cancer Research UK have Treatment Record books you can order if your hospital doesn’t give them out. It’s free. I track all my symptoms in there and make notes daily.

Today is a good day, day 10 of cycle 1 and the first time I’m not feeling any nausea.

Can i ask (sorry if you have said) what are your meds.

Will order me one of those books xx

I’m a metastatic bc patient, I recently did 4x EC, the first one was the worst then I learned how to control my side effects better…..

Ask for help with your symptoms, and perhaps a lower dose. Depends how high risk or not your situation is really.

all the best what ever your decision
