Reducing monthly outgoings

Reducing monthly outgoings

Reducing monthly outgoings Im just about to go onto half pay from work ( big gulp), so thought Id see if I could reduce my outgoings. With just a morning on the pc, Ive managed to reduce my mortguage by £40 a month, my water rates by £30 a month ( have gone onto a meter) & changed my contract mobile to £12:50 a month, with 150 mins & 100 texts included ( T- mobile special on-line offer, finishes 21/02).
Every little helps!

I think there could be a competition here! when I can be bothered I rather enjoy applying periodic reigns of terror around the house, particularly with unnecessary lights/music being left on (are we a lighthouse?), I do get bothered by waste. When my children were younger they had quite a little business going selling horse manure - 80p a bag - nowadays that is a trivial amount for big earners (babysitting £20 a Saturday night), so it continues to rot in its heap - such a shame. I think we could swop money saving ideas. A friend of mine with 4 adult children used to squeeze up her toilet roll before putting them in the holder - in this way they would only dispense 1or2 sheets at a time - is this taking things too far! Anybody else have great money saving/budgetting ideas?

Well done for the savings

Shop at L*dls! Over January all veg was half price, salmon and Tuna are far cheaper than in A**** and T****!! Real fruit juices are way cheaper, and overall a shopping trolley full up costs around 65.00, as opposed to the other ‘big names’ which cost far more than that for the same amount.

Other benefits are that it is never overly busy, has some unusual goods too which arent available in most retailers and a weekly shop can be done in around 20 minutes.

I have mine down to a fine art now and this week we havent even been shopping except for the essentials, a first in our house!

I still shop elsewhere for brand name washing powders, yogurts etc, but on average changing to this shop for most things has probably saved us £30-£40 a week. I had to go on ssp during treatment but I dont think I’ve been shortchanged on quality!!

If you get me started on bargains we’ll be here all day, especially clothes…
