Reducing scar tissue post WLE

Hi all,

I am now 4 weeks post WLE / oncoplastic remodelling and had a follow up with my surgeon pre-radiotherapy. She said that I’m developing a lot of scar tissue where the remodelling was done, and that it’s responsible for my hard/lumpy and dimpled appearance.

She recommended deep tissue massage on the former tumour area to smooth it out and I am desperate to reduce the lumpiness before radiotherapy makes everything more permanent, but wow does it hurt.

Any positive stories about luck with reducing scar tissue from you ladies?

Thanks

Bio Oil will really help get rid of your scars. I used it last year after my WLE and ANC - I had a really horrible lumpy bit at the end of my stitches and it virtually disappeared. Unfortunately I have just had a MX so those scars are no longer with me. But I have started with the Bio Oil again and within the 3 weeks I have been using I already can see a significant difference. I do it at least once a day but often last thing at night and first thing in the morning after a shower. Primark have it for £5.20 a bottle at the moment, or a large bottle from amazon lasts for ages (still using mine from last year)!

good luck

Hello K_M

Thanks for the tips. How soon after surgery you started using Bio Oil?

Take care

Thanks, I’ve started on the bio oil which is great but my scars aren’t bothersome, it’s actually under the skin across my whole breast that has become hard and bumpy where my tissue was reconstructed (to fill in the hole the tumor left behind). It is painful and visible like a muscle knot.

I had my WLE end of july and have recently noticed a hard lump above scar line. Saw oncologist today to have checked but she thinks nothing to worry about it. It still worries u though! Does anyone know if scar tissue is common? Hope all u lovely ladies are doing ok out there. Will it ever get easier…with no worrying?! That would be nice xx
