Reduction & lift to other breast

Hi Everyone

Wonder if you can help with some feed back.

I had a mastectomy on 1/July 2013 with permanent implant, everything has gone well, and the hospital is now talking to me about sorting my other breast out.

They want to reduce it and lift it to match my other breast, I keep swinging between wanting it done and not wanting it done due to another op.

Has any one had this done and can you tell me how it all went.

Thank you ladies

Hi Sweetcandy,
I had this done a week yesterday. It’s a much smaller op than the mastectomy and recon, I stayed just one night, I have some other medical problems so I never get to go home the saMe day, though I think it’s possible if you are on the morning list. The surgery took about two hours and I was out of bed about three hours after that. I had the dressing changed Monday and today, and healing seems to be going well, though I am quite swollen and may have to have some fluid drawn off if it doesn’t start going down next week. My surgeon recommends wearing a good support bra day and night for the first few weeks, so you need to get something suitable before surgery, as you won’t feel much like trying on right after.
All the best

Hi SweetCandy,
I had Mx with reconstruction in Feb 2013 using a temporary implant. Then following chemo & rads, in October, I had the other breast operated on, but rather than having reduction and uplift, I opted to have another MX with temporary implant. Very pleased with the results and have not decided whether to keep the current implants or have another operation at some point to have them changed for permanent implants.

Hi sweet candy

I had right mx in September 2012 and only had reduction to left breast 2 months ago.  I agree with the other post that it is a much smaller op and for me the results are very good.  I was, however, surprised at how uncomfortable is was for the first 6 weeks but the benefits are worth it.  I also agree that if you go ahead with this that you sort out a support bra as this will be needed.  I understand that the thought of more surgery is daunting.

Its interesting to note that you had a permanent implant.  I have been asking my surgeon for one and have been told to wait for 2 years!!  I return to him in a few weeks and hope to go on the list for this op.  The saline one is very much like a hot water bottle.  Can you tell me more about yours and where in the country you live.  I hope this post has helped you make your mind up.

Regards Chris

Hi Ladies

Sorry for late reply I have been away for work.

Thank you all so much for all your replies, they have all helped and helped, and knowing the op is not as big as the mastectomy one is a great help, think I’m going to go for it.

Chris you asked me where in the country I am from, I am in the London area, when I went to discuss my immediate reconstruction with the plastic surgeon I told him I did not want lots of operations and would only be prepared to have the one op so he decided to do the permanent implant, after the op I waiting about 1 month then they started to fill it with saline, this was done 4 times and I am now at the point were it cannot be filled anymore, once the other breast has been done and I am happy and they look fairly even they will then take the port out of the implant where they have been filling the implant up from, and too be honest I cannot wait as the bigger you get the more the port feels uncomfortable, but if you can deal with a mastectomy you can deal with also anything else I think, really hope this helps, if you want to know more please let me know.
