Hello, I have a diagnosis of er and or positive her neg tumours and axill nodes in left side. I had a Ct scan due to having a mastectomy and diep operation and something has been noted in my pelvic area. I have now been referred for a bone scan and I am beside myself with fear that it’s already in my bone and worry (I’m claustrophobic) has anyone had this experience?
Is it a nuclear bone scan or MRI the bone scan is not nearly as claustrophobic as MRI . It’s open on both sides and moves over you more quickly than MRI . Only time it’s claustrophobic is when it passes over your face , I turned my head a little so I could see the room . CT scans and bone scans can show issues that can on investigation turn out to be nothing sinister .I hope you get good news . Re MRI I always have sedation now after pressing the button to get out twice ! It does take longer to arrange though .
Jill, I can’t thank you enough for that information. It is a nuclear bone scan That doesn’t sound as bad as I have in my head!! And that there is hope it’s not cancer in my bones!!! The fear is terrifying. Thank you so much for replying.
I came to say the same. I’m claustrophobic and worried about having an MRI in the future, but I had a bone scan on Wednesday and it really was nothing to worry about. Best of luck!
Hi Cali,
Thank you so, so, much for that. It’s such a help and relieve.
Hope results are all good for you and thanks again for replying!
Take loads of care x
I have one every three months, it’s like going through a giant polo! And sound more like a washing machine, doesn’t last log and I use it as a chance for a nap! I also had something on my pelvis but next scan gone… it’s a rubbish journey as we don’t know what is round the corner but stay positive, treatment is progressing every day, we can do this…
Thanks Babicat
I had a TOP to toe CT scan with dye.
Not claustrophobic at all and pretty quick.
Only thing I would say is when they inject the dye it makes you feel like you are desperate to wee !!! Really odd but very transient. Glad they warned me though. I was told it was routine just to check there was nothing else anywhere.
Good luck xx
Thanks so much everyone for your posts. Good to hear others experiences and great to hear the scans have been clear.
It’s the nuclear bone scan that is giving me the fear as there was something showing on my pelvic and that’s why I’ve been referred for one. I have a date now if 22nd December, but that means (I think) I won’t get any outcome until everyone is back to work in January. It’s going to be a long Christmas
