Referral - “lump” in armpit

Hi all

Even the thought of posting on here is bringing me some kind of comfort that I’m not alone so if you’re even reading this then thank you.

I’ve had a referral from my doctor to get a “lump” under my armpit checked out. I class it as a “lump” as it’s not what I think of as being a cancer lump.  I first noticed a baked bean size “lump” under my arm about 6 months ago and although the worst case scenario vaguely crossed my mind at this point I just put it down to being a gland and I was run down. I recently noticed this area had turned into a swollen “lump” which I have wholeheartedly convinced myself is “the C word”.

Of course my family are trying to convince me otherwise that maybe it’s just fatty tissue or where I sweat a lot which is aggravating the area.

Im aware of how slim the chances are of it being anything more serious, especially as I’m under 30 too, and I hope with every fibre of my being that I’m wrong. But I still think I’m right.

To all the strong women out there who are waiting for an appointment like myself and worried, please remember that you’re thoughts on the matter are not dramatic or unjustified and I wish you ALL success in whatever stage of this weird journey you’re on.

Hello and welcome to the forum, it is good that you are getting checked out for nothing else but to give you peace of mind.  As you say it could be anything not necessarily breast cancer, there are other breast conditions that it could be including a cyst which may well need draining.

Let us know how you get on with your appointment if you want to.

Sending you hugs

Hi, Simplistedaily!

It’s probably nothing like you’re thinking, but you certainly would feel better after your appointment.
Put your mind at rest, and let us know about the results (if you wish so, of course!). Hope it goes well, and that it is nothing at all.
