Referral Process?

Hi, I found a lump in my armpit last weekend. I thought it was pain from working out and then found the lump. I went to see my GP on Tuesday who confirmed the lump and also said there were lumps in my right breast. He referred me to the referral clinic on the same day and gave me a letter with a number to call if I hadn’t heard from them by the Thursday.

Still no word by the Thursday so I called and they said they couldn’t give me an idea of when I’d get an appointment.

I missed a call from them today and when I called back they said it was because there had been a cancellation but it had already been taken. I asked when I’d get an appointment and they couldn’t say.

I am working so some days will be unable to just drop everything to go for a cancellation if they call me another day. Is that how it works? I just have to wait for a last minute cancellation?

I am really anxious about it as my family history does not point to this not being cancer.

Thanks

You should be seen within 10 days I think it is, I know you have work to consider but your work should let you out for checkup so please speak to your supervisor or hr department and let them know you will have to go at the drop of a hat if you get a call and that you need your phone on you to take the call, please do not put work before your health. Work has a duty of care to you. Please keep on at your unit, I’m not sure with the Covid-19 how things are working at trusts, please phone the number on here for some additional guidance too, but please put your health and life before work :two_hearts: :two_hearts: :sparkles: :sparkles: Shi xx
