I posted in breast awareness a over a week ago, I was saying that I got a pain in my shoulder. The next day I went to see the doctor who said to me that it wasn’t my shoulder it was my breast tissue, he then asked if I had any pain in my armpit or any nipple discharge, I hadn’t at that point. I soon did start to get pain under and at the side of the breast, as well as under my armpit. I was treated for mastitis and there was no improvement so then the Dr examined me and said I had fullness in that breast but he couldn’t feel any lumps. He then asked me to stay and have some blood tests which I did. The results came back normal for everything but I still have all my symptoms. I also have experienced a pain at the top of my back and my breast itches. some days I feel like it is improving and try to get back to normal and it hits me like a ton of bricks again. I’m constantly exhausted to the point that my eyes look like I haven’t slept in months. My Dr after seeing my blood results said I don’t think the problem is in your breast, so I asked why am I getting pain in my breast, armpit and shoulder then? With that he said I don’t think it’s your breast but I will refer you to the breast clinic. It’s made me feel that I’m wasting people’s time because he thinks its something else. Also friends and family all keep saying its not cancer because cancer doesn’t hurt but they should be able to tell you what’s wrong. Of course I am aware the the majority of people who go to breast clinic they find its not cancer but I feel that everyone’s attitude is making me feel like I’m making a fuss over nothing. I have been in pain for almost 4 weeks and something must be causing it but now I just feel stupid and really emotional. I have an appointment at the breast clinic on the 18th feb and I’m more worried that they will find nothing and these symptoms will be here forever. The Dr did lots of blood tests with the results being normal, so if they find nothing will I just have to live with pain? At the moment I think is it even worth going to the clinic? I don’t want to waste people time because everyone keeps saying cancer would show in my bloods. to wish time would stop going so slow too, everyday feels like a week.
Hi Sue, I don’t think that’s true, though I’ve read it myself, that b.cancer doesn’t cause pain.I have known people who have said it does .I think you should go with your gut feeling and press for having it checked out as far as you can.I don’t think you’re wasting anyone’s time , you need to find out what it is for your peace of mind.
Please keep posting here or I won’t know what happens !! Ten more days must seem like an age ,but it will go by .
best wishes
Rainy.
Hi Rainy,
it does feel like a life time especially when your in pain, because its hard to distract yourself. I just feel disheartened at the moment, probably because of being in pain for long. I don’t think my niece and daughter would allow me to miss the appointment. i will keep posting to let you know how . Get on. Thank you for your support.
Sue
Hi please follow through and go to breast clinic your doctor is wise to send you as it will rule out any breast issues. There could be a variety of reason why you are in pain which might be because you spine is out of line or now because you are anxious about this and your body is reacting to your anxiety. If you feel the need to do something and you have £30 you can spare try to see osteopath or go to complimentary clinic and try a spinal touch Treatment. Totlly painless and will realine your back. My daughter is a dancer and has this done every 8 weeks and feels wonderful after as her back can be out by half and inch which causes her to walk and carry herself differently and so this sorts her out. A lot of pain is caused through back problems. Meanwhile try not to worry I know that is difficult but your doctor is listening to you and you will get a sense of closure eventually even if its not the news you were hoping for. Meanwhile we are all in here to listen and offer support. One last think during my diagnosis I found a reki session helped get me through both physically and mentally. Really can recommend that as a great way to relieve stress x
Hi Carrie,
i have had sciatica since I was 15 after a fall down the stairs damaged the muscles in the bottom of my back so that is a possibility. If I’m honest at the moment I don’t think I could bare anyone to touch me though because of the pain I am in. It is something worth me doing anyway no matter what the outcome is as some of my family have curvature of the spine so that could be a factor of my back problems too. I have full faith in my Dr and know he will get to the bottom of it all but I’m just so fed up now with feeling this way. I feel and look like a completely different person than a few weeks ago. I have been through so much in my life from domestic abuse, my sons having autism, losing siblings and my daughter setting herself on fire and consider myself a strong person but this as just completely knocked me for six. I can cope with things I know but at the moment I don’t this and what’s causing it.i don’t know how to you cope with waiting and not knowing.
Thank you for your support

Hi Suejonno
I’ve read your posts, and believe that whatever your problem is, it would still be a good idea to get your breasts checked out. the pain you’re feeling could be totally unrelated, and caused by any of the conditions you mentioned, but just to give you peace of mind, go to your appointment and have the checks, if breast problems are elliminated, you can then concentrate on what the problem really is.
Very good luck,
Poemsgalore xx
I agree with Poemsgalore. Please go to the appointment and take someone with you. It will at the very least eliminate a breast problem, and be very sure you are NOT WASTING ANYONE’S TIME. You are in pain, and it needs resolving, whatever it turns out to be. Good luck and take care xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thank you Poemsgalore and Lola, I am going with my niece and daughter to the clinic. I’ve sometimes got a burning feeling in it too since the problems started and when I touch my breast it really hurts at certain places. I will be very surprised if it isn’t breast related but I do know it be lots of other things

I think it is excellent news!!! What you have may not be appealing if it turns out to be permanent, but a whole lot better than cancer! Fingers crossed the ant-inflammatories work. xxx
Hi everyone,
just to let you all know that today I went to the breast clinic. I do not have a problem with my breast. My ultrasound was normal but more importantly they know what is wrong. I have inflammation of the rib cage that has caused my breast to be painful around the edges, if pressed on my breast and under my armpit. After last posting the pain had gone all round my torso so this makes sense. Good news is I know what it is but the bad news is that if anti inflammatories don’t work the symptoms could last a few years or may be perminent. Neither of those are appealing lol. So I guess it’s just a wait and see situation.
thank you all for your support
Sue
Hi Sue
so pleased you had good results and thank you for coming back to let us know.
Good luck to you in getting some pain relief sorted for your rib cage pain. Am guessing that if its a long term thing they’ll refer you to the pain clinic.
Take care

Hi Sue
So very relieved for you that it isn’t BC, but do hope that you find some relief from the pain. Sending you hugs and best wishes for the future.
Thank you everyone, it’s a great relief it’s not bc but also they found out what it is. So far the pain is worse but still hoping it clears up soon xxx
