Hi there, I’ve been referred to the breast clinic by my GP. I am 40 years old. My left breast has always been slightly larger but a few months ago it got even bigger. After being nagged by family I went to my GP assuming she would tell me everything was ok but when she examined me she said my left breast was lumpy as was my right but the left breast had a more solid area. I’ve also noticed it feels fuller and heavier. My appointment at the breast clinic is next week but over the weekend I notice there is a burning sensation under my left armpit and I can also feel it slightly in my left breast as well as what I can only describe as a strange sensation in my left breast.
I am so worried as I’ve got a 2 year old son who is my world and I just want to be here for him. I’m worried I am being silly. Any advice or hearing other people’s experiences would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Hi Hopeful,
It’s quite right your GP has referred you to get it properly looked at, as only the clinic can sort it out for you.
It’s quite usual to notice other symptoms when waiting, but mostly, there turns out to be another explanation for it & by far, the vast majority of women here turn out Not to have bc. It is the least likely reason for your breast change.
It can help to carry on as normal, keep yourself busy & avoid any general googling as you won’t find an answer & it only makes anxiety worse for no good reason.
Let us know how you get on if you want to.

Thank you for your reply Ann. I’m sure it is nothing and I’m trying to keep myself busy but the nagging doubt is always there. I’m trying to think positive ?x
