Just wanted to ask has anyone opted for this and how do they feel now?
I see the gynie consultant on Monday. I was reffered by the genetic team after had the blood test done.
I am considering this but need to hear from anyone who has opted for it.
i’ve been trying to get my ovaries removed…have already had hysterectomy 8 years ago but retained my ovaries and as my cancer is hormne receptive i would like to remove another possible risk
I had my uteus and ovaries removed just over 2 years before I was dx with bc. I was lucky to have it done by key hole surgery which left me with only two tiny scars, one is hardly visible. I recovered very quickly probably because I didnt have a major incision. Obviously I was tired post surgery and had to be careful about lifting etc. for a couple weeks. But I was back at the gym after 7 weeks.
Hi,I had a keyhole uterus and ovaries removal at the end of November. I finished my rads at the end of October. I did it because of incessant bleeding, which the tamoxifen caused because of fibroids. Like Sharon, I found it pretty easy and I was back at work full time in 6 weeks.
I don’t know whether I would have done it without the bleeding, but I’ve got no regrets at all. Now on Arimidex and I do get the weats, but nothing I can’t handle.
Thanks for your helpful replies. I am going to ask for the removal of uterus and ovaries when i go to the hosp.
For two reasons, firstly i wil then be post menopausal and know where i am and can go on arimadex.
Secondly i wont be worried about uterine or ovarian cancer.
