Just wondering if anyone has had laser treatment to remove their tattoos from the radiotherapy? If so, Id like as much info as poss please.
My scar is very high up, more or less at cleavage height, which means that the 2 of the tattoos are even higher and show with low tops. One of them is much more than pinprick size.
Hi Lolly,
There is an alternative to laser treatment which may not be readily available.
My hubby is a surgeon and he removed my cleavage tattoo with a circular skin biopsy punch. It requires a little local anaesthetic, then a small circle of skin slightly larger than the mark is removed, a little pressure is required to stop the bleeding and a small dressing applied. It forms a scab and when that drops off, hey presto new skin and no mark. Any competent surgeon should be able to do it in outpatients so ask your breast surgeon but do specify the use of the skin biopsy punch. My husband did it for all his patients who requested it.
oooh that is very interesting. I approached a local tattoo place who advertise laser removal and they costed out the removal of the 3 dots at between £300-£500 depending on how many sessions it took… needless to say I did not book myself in
There was another thread on here a few months ago about having rad tattoo incorporated into an atristic design. Someone commented that medical advice was that in caes of recurrence tattoo dotsd were used as markers. Not sure if this is accurate or if I’ve remembered details correctly (can’t remember my own name some days!) so you might want to check this out. If we can have reconstruction on NHS I would have thought laser removel should be available too, if you can say it is causing you distress. If not could you use a cover up stick?
One of my marks shows well above T shirt necklines but no one has ever commented. Maybe they are too polite to say they think I’ve gone so potty i’ve started drawing on myself! Doesn’t help with my argument with teenage daughter about NOT having a tattoo either.
