Hi. I haven’t personally but know someone who had the second breast removed. However, she had to go through a lot of psychiatric testing first. X

thanks everyone for your replys i am a new member and its so nice to have people who have been there. i am waiting for the results of my recent mri and will decide want to do after that if anything.:womanhappy:

I can definitely recommend having a double mastectomy. Like you I had grade 3 and had to have a single mastectomy. I had chemo first and after this decided reconstruction wasn’t for me and fought for a double mastectomy. My consultant was against this but I fought for a second opinion and fortunately for me I was able to do this and have never looked back. It still feels a bit odd, mainly because I had total right node clearance too so I’m still (& prob will always be) numb on my right side but I am so glad I made this decision. I did find that both my consultant and radiologist (both men) had very set ways in how they thought everyone should feel and were quite patronising I felt that I would “change my mind and want reconstruction later” but this has not been the case for me. Good luck in whatever decision you make but make sure you make the right decision for you and not what the media / others suggest xx
