Repeat MRI

So, I was diagnosed a few weeks ago with high grade DCIS. I had an MRI Tuesday last week, then the following day I tested positive for covid & had a fairly nasty few days. Just about back to my normal level of ongoing fatigue A couple of days ago my breast nurse rang me to let me know my consultant wants me to have a repeat MRI as I have dense breasts, she told me not to worry (I immediately worried), that they just want to see what they’re like at a different point in my menstrual cycle to make sure only the necessary amount of surgery is done. Just been called up for MRI tomorrow afternoon, but this makes no sense to me as my boobs are really lumpy at the moment as my period could be any day (cycle messed up due to being on mini pill for 6 weeks then stopping cos of cancer). Also not feeling too happy about having more contrast agent in 10 days, plus I had a heart MRI with contrast just over a month ago.

So, has anyone else been called for repeat MRIs? Am I worrying unnecessarily?

I haven’t had that experience, but have found that this journey is full of uncertainties. Worrying is normal, possibly even more so when told not to worry.

The other thing it’s full of is waiting, for tests, for operation(s), for results.

If you’re unable to calm the worries yourself would giving your nurse a call to say to her what you’ve said here help?
