Resconstruction using fat from my body

Hi, I had breast cancer 11 years ago and had reconstruction using an implant, breast smaller than the other one and still have to have it built up. I am now told that my implant has to be removed and the doctor will use fat from my body to replace the implant (I thought that was a good result as the doctor kindly mentioned I do have plenty of fat for that use) Anyway my question is has anyone had this reconstruction and let me have details of recovery time and their thoughts on it as a reconstruction.
I would also just like to say this site was my lifeline when I was going through breast cancer and I hope you are all benefiting from it as much as did.

Hi maggiemc, I have literally just been discharged yesterday from having an mx with immediate recon. I had a tug flap and have been told that if not enough fat was donated from my thigh I can have liposuction in approximately eight months time, (this is the one time I wish I was built a little bigger)!
I understand that this is done over a course of weeks/months, six weeks in between each injection of fat removal and believe it has positive results.
I met a lady just before I went in for my op, she had exactly the same op as what I have just had. She has had around two fat injections and is very happy with her outcome. I must say she looked amazing, there was a slight mark in her thigh from where the fat was removed and can only imagine this will gradually fade or disappear over the course of time.
This type of recon was only mentioned to me at my last appointment with my recon surgeon and was so relieved as I was gradually going off the idea of an implant.
I hope you found this helpful.
