On Tuesday next, 7/01, I am due to collect and start 6th and final course of Capecitabine. Friday’s bloods were mostly good, though mild ongoing anaemia. BUT on Saturday evening I heard a weird crackling in my upper respiratory tract and today it’s got a bit more phlegmy and coughy. Not serious, not bronchitis - though I am prone - should I take the next course of oral chemo if it’s not gone away by Tuesday? Should I contact the CNS who checks the bloods, or call the chemo helpline? Thanks for advice. I don’t want to blow it after all I’ve been through since October, 2023.
I don’t know anything about the meds you mention but I would definitely check with your nurse if you wake up feeling unwell tomorrow.
I hope you feel better soon.
Hello failsbetter
Thanks for posting. It is understandable you want to check whether to go ahead with your final course of capecitabine as you have some respiratory symptoms.
As @Jayesse says, it would be sensible to contact your CNS today if you haven’t already done so. She will be able to advise you on whether to take your next course, or if any other action needs to be taken before Tuesday.
