Results after mastectomy

I am 2 weeks post single mastectomy and sentinel lymph biopsy for DCIS and went for my results and dressings off yesterday, I was due a DIEP but a kidney tumour was found during my pre op CT scan which is also cancer, i have been told that I can have my op for the kidney before new year. However yesterday I was told that my DCIS was a lot larger than originally thought 15cms so they want me to now have radiotherapy, planning appointment in for the 30th Jan and my biopsy has been sent for oncotypeDX scoring to see if chemo is recommended. I completely spiralled yesterday as this was not what I was expecting, feel like im going 2 steps forward and 5 back! Didn’t ask any questions from my notepad that I needed answering and my scar looks ok but is a little swollen, feels squishy, is this normal? My consultant asked if I wanted it draining and I said what do you think? He said to leave it as its not tight looking, has anyone else got this 2 weeks post op?

Now i need to wait to see what the oncotypeDX results are before I can proceed with tge kidney op, i know im rare but is there anyone else out there dealing with 2 primary cancers? A nurse who did my pre op for the kidney did say she had seen someone from the Isle Of Man going through the same.

Feel crazy now that I had such a meltdown over the oncotypeDX seeing though it’s for my own good, also these exercises feel sore, im getting them done but its a struggle

Morning that does feel like alot for you to deal with im not surprised you had a melt down!! Don’t be hard on yourself. I’m not in the same position as you but I’m 2 weeks post surgery with double mastectomy and sentinel node removal and I’m waiting to see my surgeon on Monday for results of pathology. I dont know what to expect but my DCIS was 35mm on scan but who knows what they found in surgery. I think if they tell me I need radio or chemo I will be totally freaked out tbh.

My scar is pretty swollen in areas just in the middle where both sides meet and under each arm its squishy like yours and my BCN said thats fine it will go down.

I’m doing my exercises and yesterday I did the ones where you slide your arm up the wall and on the right side where I had the nodes removed its pretty sore this morning which I think is understandable cause its first time ive done that one, you’ve just got to take it slowly and don’t push it until it hurts its just gentle movements to keep your arms going.

I hope that helps a bit message me if you need a chat I here just recovering like you :growing_heart: :two_hearts: :sparkling_heart:
