Hi all, I got my results yesterday 60mm DCIS and two small areas of IDC HER2 oestrogen positive. So tamoxifen for 5 years

My surgeon is now booking me in for sentinel node biopsy next week.

Feeling deflated and overwhelmed. I stupidly hoped that the results would come back as just DCIS and this would be done.

Did anyone else feel like this with their results.

I feel
Like this is never ending! Now am freaking out it’s everywhere and that’s why they are checking my lymph nodes.

Thanks for reading. I was so low yesterday. Which took away from the positive that I am healing well after my diepmflap reconstruction.

@motherducky, as you know we are all here for you, it’s always a shock when we get our results, one day at a time at the moment. Anxiety takes such a toll on us take small steps once you have a treatment plan in place you will start to feel better.

Wishing you a restful weekend, with lots of hugs Tili :rainbow::pray::rainbow:

Hello motherducky, so sorry to hear your mood has slipped which itself is perfectly understandable - this ‘journey’ is unquestionably a roller coaster of emotions. To hear you are dealing well after the diep flap is fantastic! And enviable tbh as I was unfit so instead live flat, and benefit from this in the hot weather - silver lining and all that. I have trained myself to look for the silver linings in all things, and I have become quite good at it. This helps me to protect myself from the ‘downs’ so they are not so intense. My post op results, well, yes they changed from pre op but the treatment path didnt, if I remember correctly. Yes there was more of a mix than previously-ILC, IDC even poss some DCIS - but it was having 3 tumours of bugger size than expected that shook me and caused panic. It transpired that they werent all that big xompared to others after all, so being on a forum and swapping info really helped me in that sense. Keep talking, keep asking, and use every resource you can dind, there is great support available qhenever tou need. All the best X

Thanks @debsterp. I think because I’m in so much pain still from surgery as only 10 days post op that my fighting spirits a bit broken.

You’re right, I need to find the positives and I need to refocus just on the next step.

I hope you’re feeling ok and getting to enjoy some of the summer sun x

@Tili I think it’s because you get information overload in the appointments. My friends coming to see me today. Hoping she helps get me back in the zone!

@motherducky Excellent news, best medicine is a cup of tea with that special friend ENJOY

Oh my goodness, 10 days post op! No wonder there is pain, and constant pain is debilitating. Your emergy is going into healing so its not surprising the mood slips. There is also a lot of extras to process, deal with, manage, all outside the ordinary. Def focus on now, one day at a time helps me not to be so overwhelmed (tho not always, obvs). Again, I tell myself the pain will pass and its a good pain () and treat yourself ad distract yourself in whatever way works for you. I watched a lot of telly, we went out for pub lunches. Friends too. Wishing you well again soon; it will happen

Results days are awful especially when youre still so early in your recovery. Its bever a nice feeling to have to have more surrgery either so be kind to yourself. Take it easy and hopefully after this next step your nodes will be clear and you can move forward with your recovery . Take care and go steady Xx

It sounds like the 2 areas were tiny, so small that despite being her2 + they are just treating you with tamoxifen. So your treatment hasn’t changed much. Its a big plus that they don’t think that herceptin and chemo is necessary. A sentinel node biopsy usually removes only 1 node and its standard practice if IDC is found anywhere. Its an addition to the path, but hopefully won’t change things much and its in your best interest to be thorough. Hopefully your node will be negative and it just turns out to be a precaution. They would of already scanned your nodes so its encouraging that on a scan level they have not seen any abnormalities, which is why they are only removing 1 to check. Being her2, having lymph node involvement would change the plan, so they need to check to be sure you are on the right treatment.
