My oncologist called as she said despite not having liver biopsy results she wanted to talk to me. It’s a relief and no worse than I expected. I had loads of questions which we also went through.
in terms of what she sees on scans, she thinks the biopsy will confirm metastatic breast cancer of the liver. There are also some subtle bone changes in my spine from the activity element of my bone scan which although not shown in the CT element of the same scan, require more investigation. T6 and T9.
Then we went through my list - I am booked at her clinic on 12th June so we can “get cracking”. This I like. It’s not so usual for a cancer to change (although I see examples of it on this group) so she gave me some examples of treatments for ER+. I also asked if we should look at my brain and she said it’s not so routine with ER+ mets but given the relatively fast pace this gone, yes let’s do it. I had to ask why has this happened to me (had already asked if letrozole not worked for me) Likely cause - endocrine resistance so yes, letrozole not been effective.
I took away - early days and we can shut this down. Clearly a lot hinges on ER+ or not. But things are moving and I am so relieved about that.
