Results letter?

Hello, desperately trying not to panic and so decided I would post on here as having had a quick read of other posts, this seems like a lovely supportive place to be right now.

I recently found a lump on my right breast and was referred to the Breast Clinic where I went yesterday. Boobs were too dense so mammogram showed nothing so had to have an US during which they told me the lump was not a concern and just breast tissue so I felt amazing but then he moved the machine over and said he needed to a biopsy as was concerned about another area above the lump. So had the biopsy but am now just sick with worry and don’t know what to do with myself!

Had to go back to see the consultant after the biopsy and he said they weren’t overly concerned but he couldn’t give me any reassurance which I fully understand but I keep playing that over and over in my mind.

I realise that there is nothing I can do but wait and I guess in that time posting on here made me feel a little less alone so thank you for reading.

Results should be here in 2/3 weeks by letter they said - does anyone know what that will look like? Will it be an appointment letter- I imagine they won’t tell you the news in a letter but I have no idea.

Sorry you are feeling anxious waiting for the results of the biopsy. It’s not nice and the waiting is always the hardest time.

I’m sure your team will call you in to tell you the results. Did they give you a number for a breast care nurse, I was given one, so I could call them if I had any questions.

The BCN nurses work Mon - Fri 9-4 Sat 9-1. You can phone and talk this through as well 0808 800 6000.

MacMillan also have a helpline that is 7 days a week 8-8 0808 800 0000.

Take care :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Hi tryingnottogoogle,

Thank you for your post.

We often hear from people waiting for results like a breast biopsy who feel worried and anxious. You are not alone in feeling this way.

You may find the following article on breast biopsy results helpful to read.

As @naughty_boob says it may be helpful to contact your breast care team about how you are feeling as they can talk you through support available. You can also ask about the letter as they will be able to advise on how your results will be relayed to you.

It’s not clear what support you have at this difficult time of waiting for results but the NHS website, every mind matters has some useful tips on managing anxiety that you may find helpful

Do call our helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. We often find we can help people more by speaking to them on the phone. The helpline team have time to listen, talk things through and signpost you to further support and information if necessary. Your call will be confidential, and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks.

The number is 0808 800 6000. If you have hearing or speech difficulties prefix our number with 18001 and the call will go through Relay UK. Our helpline has access to telephone interpreters if language translation is required.

Our usual opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm and 9am -1pm on Saturday.

Out of hours you can leave a message and we will call you back when we next open.

Thank you for contacting us. Please contact us again in the future if you have any further queries.

We’re continually evaluating this service. If you want to provide feedback, please click the link to complete the survey . It should take approximately 10 minutes.

Kind regards
