I had WLE SLNB & LICAP reconstruction for IDC on May 20th.
It was results day today and it didn’t go as I’d hoped. I got a new diagnosis of ER+ Metaplastic Carcinoma grade 3 The tumour was removed with clear margins but 1 of thd 5 lymphnodes taken were found to have cancer cells. Long road ahead of Chemotherapy Radiotherapy, hormone therapy and bone strengthening bisphophonates.
Any one else been through this and can give me some idea of what to expect at each stage?
CT, heart scan and oncologist are being arranged hopefully will be done in the next week or two.
Ricey sorry your results were not what you were expecting it is a lot to process when suddenly you find the goal posts changed don’t try and process everything all at once break it down into steps and just go with the flow it can be like being on a rollercoaster now as you’ve appointments for this that and the other, a chemo kit to get ready thermometer to keep chemo of temperature etc step by step please do remember your team have seen it all before and bcn and everyone is here so do ask away as you have and look at everything bcn can help support you with if you want Shi xx
Hi RiceyI have the same diagnosis and completed my treatment yesterday.
I was diagnosed with grade 3 IDC a 2 cm lump no lymph node involvement but vascular erosio. In September 2021. I found the lump myself but was due a mammogram, however it did not show on the mammogram which sometimes it doesn’t.
i had the usual tests ultrasound, biopsies, markers plus MRI etc and WLE on 27 th November. I received the pathology result and had the oncotype test done which came back as 35 which indicated chemotherapy was beneficial so this commenced 14 th Jan 2022 for 6 cycles. I completed this on 3 rd May and then had radiotherapy 6 th June to 10th June finishing yesterday.
I have to say there are many ups and downs but it is doable. I am very relieved it’s done now and can start to get on with my life.
