I had a lumpectomy and SNB last May followed by four weeks of radiotherapy which finished in August. I have started to get pain in my ribs under the affected side, they feel sore to touch and tender almost like they are bruised. I do exercise a lot but just wondered if anyone else has experienced this. Not sure if I should be concerned or if this a side effect of radiotherapy. I’m taking Letrozole as well.
Hi Sharnie, I had lumpectomy and full nodes clearance in Jan 2015 followed by 6 months of chemo and 4 weeks of RT (finished in Sep) and in November when I upped my exercise I’ve now ended up with lymphoedema on my shoulder & upper back, nerve pain on chest and under arm and my very sore muscle under the armpit is still under investigation. So far I’ve been told all due to RT…
I’ve sen pain consultant for the nerve pain but still waiting for the pain patches to kick in. Def get your pains investigated.
Hi Sharnie,
You could have written my path there. I am discharged to self care, but with open access to my Onc via the BCNs. I had reported my rib pain to my GP who suggested seeing Onc for precise advice. Last tues i did this, she examined me, but also ordered mamo (as almost due yearly follow up), an ultrasound scan, and a limited xray of ribs… these were all carried out that day and back to the Onc to be told all reassuringly normal, but unfortunately this pain was very common post radiotherapy. My scar is like an upside down T with the rib pain being at the edge of that upsidedown T.
Hope that helps, do get it checked out. X
LL xx
Whoops, am on Arimidex, the generic anastrazol gave me many side effects. Again in put from.Onc enabled this prescribing.
Thanks for the replies. I have a GP appointment soon so will mention it then. I think it’s a combination of exercise and radiotherapy but will get it checked.
