rib removal vs radiotherapy..what can I expect?

Need some guidance. Been on bone mets thread over the pst few weeks but would like to hear from anyone who has been diagnosed with bone rib mets and opted for surgical removal of rib(s) to get rid of their cancer.

I saw my Onc today for first consult following dx of x1 rib met 2 weeks ago. In his opinion he felt surgical removal was the best option for me versus radiotherapy (inc cyberknife) because of the risk of tissue damage to my lung. It is only in this one rib and he felt my prognosis was very good with this option. I have been commenced on Zoladex (first injection today), will be starting Alendronic Acid this weekend, will continue on Tamoxifen until surgery has been performed whereby I will be switched to Arimidex.

My husband and I have provisionally said we favour the surgical option but I would like to hear from anyone who has gone down this route and what their experience of it has been - good or bad.

Been a long and weary day…so tired but feeling there might be some light at teh end of the tunnel after all.

Many thanks Leigh x

I realise this is a very, very old thread now but I’m in a similar position at the moment Leigh and if you so happen to see this… I was wondering how it all went for you?
Thanks! X
