Ribociclib and anti-depressants

Hi All,

diagnosed last June / 5 month of chemo / therapeutic mammoplasty in Jan / further op in Feb to get clear margins. Started Letrozole in Feb, been Ok - just the sore knees at the end of the day, but manageable. Currently in middle of 15 sessions of radiotherapy.

Due to start ribociclib and discuss Zometa when radio done. just wanted to ask if anyone is on sertraline and taking ribociclib?

@jolou hi Jo, I’ve been on Ribociclib for just over a week and I also take Sertraline. Was there anything particular you were worried about? Xx

Thanks for the reply @sunshine-smile ! I have googled (I know, I know!!) and found below - I am to talk to my GP about it - wanted to be armed with info before I see oncology in May.

There was no question of you changing to another AD?

I am super cautious - mainly because during chemo oncology prescribed an anti-sickness that was not good with sertraline - and only realised this when I questioned if I could still take it - I couldn’t for the duration of taking anti-sickness. My GP is brilliant and contacted oncology directly to discuss.

xx

Using ribociclib (Kisqali) with sertraline (Zoloft) requires caution and monitoring, as it can increase the risk of a serious, potentially life-threatening irregular heart rhythm known as QT prolongation

Oh that’s interesting as nothing was mentioned to me. I even had the hospital pharmacy call me to discuss what medications I was taking prior to starting Ribociclib and they didn’t say anything. I’d definitely be interested to know what you find out xx

Sorry, just seen your question, no nothing was mentioned about changing to another AD xx

I’ve just had a look at the BNF and it says to have additional ECG monitoring to check for QT prolongation and I think you have monitoring every 2 weeks to start with, so maybe that is enough? I’ll check when I go on Thursday xx
