Ribs and chemo

Hi all , I am currently undergoing chemotherapy for her2 positive breast cancer . I underwent a lumpectomy and lymph node removal back in April and have had 5 rounds of EC first then onto docetaxel . I am finding when I have had treatment I am suffering with very tender ribs almost like a bruised area to touch , when I touch my ribs they are quite painful on the side that I had my surgery. Has anyone else experienced this ? I have mentioned it to the breast nurse and she said it will be because of healing on that particular side . I wondered if anyone else has gone through this as you know what our minds are like , in overdrive and worry . Xx

Yes, I did. My lump was very low ie where the band on my bra is. It lasted longer than I expected too. However, it eventually go back to feeling normal

Hi sorry tohear about your pain, but i can fully relate, i went through this back in 2022. Surgery healing sadly takes it time, its also the bodies way of reminding you to REST, we humans think we are invinsible, and try to return to any norm always too soon. Pace yourself, and maybe concentrate on ‘something off the track’. what i’m getting at is the red line. bear with me. one of my side E was a red line horizontally across all of my nail beds, hands and feet, this is the body pushing the poison part of the doxetaxel out of your body. sadly it takes longer to pass from your toes, and you may get saucers of the upper nail lifting up from your toes. quite comical or conical i found it. i also found 2 things, writing down my experience daily… then you can monitor things improving. 2. going back on this forum to read what previous patients were concerned about and the tips then offered. ie 'starters on chemotherapy ie the date they started with me it was starters the year before even going as far back as 2 years before. I hope this helps, and feel free to come back to me if you need. Lastly find something in the future to look forward to and focus on that. My friend kept reminding me, it will all be over soon, the plus is you are free of cancer and have survived.
Plus you are amazing, Love and Light, Moonsox xxxx
