rice & oat milks

Hi

Have you tried organic oatly? It’s not really sweet and is nice with porridge.

Jxxx

I also use organic oatley. It tastes really good on breakfast cereals. I haven’t tried it in tea or coffee. I did try to make yogurt with it but it didn’t work. I just ended up with a revolting mess.

Hi
I also use the oatly, I get the calcium enriched one-have got used to it in cereal and tea.

I use it in tea and coffee and also for making bread need to keep stirring as it seems to settle a bit.x

I use Oatly aswell, I think it’s great and have no wish to go back to normal milk. Wish I’d found it years ago!

Hello

I am also part of the Oatly fanclub. i use it for cereal, tea and coffee, having cut back on soya for the same reason as you, Norberte. I just wish that the high street coffee shops would use it - they use soya, but I do get fed up carrying a little bottle around in my bag!

i use rice dream, which isnt too sweet. I use it when i make bread, cake (low sugar ones), porridge etc. I dont like the vanilla flavour one, but the standard one is ok. You can get it in Tessco, Morrisons etc.

i dont put it in tea/coffee, though. i still drink them without.

Oh try Kara Dairy Free Coconut Milk! My daughter is allergic to dairy and soya and this milk is totally wonderful!! Doesnt taste of coconut at all- tastes like semi skimmed and i drink it in tea now…

Hi Ladies

I’m another fan of Oatley but I avoid the organic version as only the non organic version is fortified with calcium and I have cut quite a lot of diary out of my diet. I’m still pre-meno so paranoid about lacking in calcium and getting through BC only to fracture my hip when I’m an older - LOL!

I think oatley on porridge is fab! Oatley in my tea has been an “aquired” taste but thank fully I seem to have acquired it!.

Hi Norberte
When you go to Penny Brohn they have a wide range of non dairy milks that you will be be able to try. It is a great opportunity to taste things before you buy.

Hi Norberte,

I tracked down the Kara coconut milk (thanks for the suggestion S) in Waitrose this week - and surprisingly in my local corner shop! It beats all the others I’ve tried (Oatly, Rice dream etc) as it seems less sweet. Great on cereals. Will give it the savoury sauce test next but I tried it in tea and it was the most convincing so far…or at least drinkable!

Annette

coconut milk sounds lovely, thanks for the tip

If you want any recipes just email me. I am about to start working with kara to form a dairy free website! They are lovely people and it is great milk for my dairy allergic daughter.

I have been looking at getting a milk maker. Has anyone tried one of these? I need to be gluten free and thought I’d be able to make things like hempseed, almond and quinoa milk with these.
