I have just received my 3 year routine mammo appointment. Is there any point in having this? I was secondary DX in September 2011 with mets to lung and bones. Any thoughts gratefully recieved…

Hi H,
I to asked the same question and was told that they still wanted to keep an eye out for any changes? Even through I have a ct scan every three months and I too had lung mets. I went to see my surgeon fully expexting them to discharge me as its been five years and thought if I did need any surgery then the oncologist would request it. But no they want to see me next year because they want to keep a close eye on me?
I’ve spoken to other people and they have had a different respond from the surgeon’s and oncologists. I’ve come to the conclusion that it very much depends on where you live and what health care professional you have. It seem a lottery to me. I know this probably doesn’t answer your question and you would think that there’re are a lot of people monitoring you not to have to have a mammogram but I now just go with the flow, unless it was something I felt strongly about I just don’t have the energy.
Love

Hi Chris
Thanks for your response. I will go have it done. My onco doesnt want to see me unless I have concerns with health and is happy to me to continue my treatment without intervention of appointments that dont really have any conclusion, so no scans or anything like that planned for me.
I would probably be up against a fight if I call and cancel - they would ask why etc.
