My son Mark is running the Brighton Marathon on April 14th in order to raise money for BCC - let him tell you his story…
Besides the challenge and the chance to use my competitive nature I am using the opportunity to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.
In 2007, while I was away studying at Exeter University my mum was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Living away from home I felt unable to give her the support she fully deserved. Having the chance to run 26.2 miles and support a charity that has done so much for her was an opportunity I couldn’t miss!
Fortunately she has now made a full recovery and has had the all clear for 5 years. Raising money for a charity that supported her and is continuing to support many women in her position means so much to her, our family and friends.
If you would like to support him and Breast Cancer Care I can PM the link to his justgiving site
Magsi,
Good to hear you are doing so well and lovely that your son wants to show his support by doing the marathon. I live in Brighton so it makes it even more exciting for me. Please thank Mark and a link to his page would be good.

Mark is running on Sunday - the training has gone well and he has raised over £700 for Breast Cancer Care - its still not too late to sponsor him and I will pm the link to anyone who would like it.
If you are in Brighton on Sunday watching the marathon just give Mark a bit of encouragement - he will be wearing a bright pink BCC top with his name on the front.
Many thanks

Mark did it! He completed the Brighton Marathon, did it in 3 hours 9 minutes and 55 seconds which being under 3hours 10 minutes was a good for age time and gives him a place in next years London marathon.
He has now raised over £800 for Breast Cancer Care - donations are still welcome and I’ll be happy to pm the linkto anyone who is interested.
