Sadly KitKat passed away on 17th March. She was a member of my Secondary Forum on bcpals, and with Chris’s permission I copy part his email to me here. I know that KitKat’s Diary when she was going through treatment for her brain mets back in 2006 was a tremendous help and inspiration to many of us.
"Dawn,
Thanks for the e-mail.
This is Chris, Katy’s husband. I am very sorry to say that Katy died on 17th March. The cause of death was recorded as pneumonia caused by metastatic breast cancer. I know she used to use your forum regularly and found a lot of comfort from chatting to others in the same predicament as her. Please could you pass on the news to the other members of your group.
She did not suffer, and in the end, it was quite quick. I am grateful for that. She did not realise that the infection was allowing the cancer to take hold, and, at the end, she was in no pain.
Thank you Chris, for your very moving description of Kit Kat’s last days. My heart goes out to you and your son. Kit Kat was an inspiration to so many on this site. I am so glad to hear that she passed peacefully. She will be very much missed by us all.
Good bye KitKat. Your Brain Diaries helped a friend of mine while she was waiting to start WBR. My thoughts are with your family. Rest in Peace, Belinda…xx
