Hi, on the recommendation of the charity Breast Cancer UK I downloaded the Yuka app onto my phone which seems great as it enables you to scan barcodes and then it will tell you exactly what chemicals are contained in them and the risks of each. Unfortunately I have discovered that the lipstick I have been using for about 30 years is harmful and could be a carcinogen. I always choose ‘healthier’ brands such as Dr Hauska and Lavera, and it is the Lavera one that I scanned. Does anybody know of brands that do not contain any nasties? I suspect my ‘healthier’ foundation and co is the same but I don’t have the boxes with the barcodes to check. I don’t wear much make-up but do not want to give it up altogether. Many thanks in advance.
Hi @rosab we did a Facebook Live with one of our nurses talking to Dr Liz O’Riordan in May last year talking about some prevalent myths and confusing information regarding breast cancer. They discuss makeup from 6 minutes 29 seconds until around 8 minutes.
We know this is a common worry, if you’d like to chat it through with our nurses, they’re here for you. You can get in touch with them here on the forum on the Ask our Nurses your questions board or on our helpline 0808 800 6000 which is open Monday to Friday 9am-4pm and 9am-1pm Saturday.
Sending our warmest
Tropics are all natural ingredients and contain no nasties. Their products feel lovely on skin. I attended a workshop through cancer support. Got a voucher and trial pack. Worth looking into xx
