Saying hello

Just to introduce myself to the March chemo starters group…

I started my course of chemotherapy on March 1st. ( EC ) I wore a cold cap ( very tight and crushing, especially on the chin ) but bearable just about. Not sure if I will continue with it or not.( bit concerned about its safety )

After being extremely nervous, having the chemotherapy itself was pretty straightforward and I reaslised I had buit it up so much beforehand that in the end it all seemed underwhelming.

I have hormone negative / borderline and HER2+ cancer, with positive node/s and am doing a lot of reading trying to learn about all of this…!

Not much in the way of side effects yet ( early days !) a bit of tiredness in the first few days, nothing more so far…

Biggest hassle at the moment is trying to keep everything clean in the house and not to get a bacterial infection… our house has never seen the like before… !

Any tips on that ?

Hi Your post and positivity lifted me. I found out today I will also need chemo im HER2 positive and hormone receptive.  Ive just had masectomy they want to wait couple weeks for recovery. Had originally thought there’d be no need for chemo. Im scared All to do with vanity and I feel bad about that too. Its good news to hear you coping hope it continues for you and its uplifting to hear its not always a horror story.

Best tip on keeping the house sanitary during chemo is to get someone else to do the cleaning! Partner and/or teenage children if you have them, pay someone if you can afford it, call in favours from friends and family as last resort.

Good luck.
