Scalp pain

Hi all, I have finished my first treatment 2 weeks ago and now I have started to loose my hair. The problem I am having is that my scalp hurts to touch it. Is it normal to have a very sensitive scalp and if so has anyone shaved their head and have the pain lessen from the shave. Any help would be appreciated as the pain is the worst part about loosing my hair.

Hi @racheelios, I am sorry to read you have pain in your scalp. I found this information page on our website about hair loss during treatment that may be helpful.

Hello! I was in the same boat as you… I shaved my head the day before my 2nd chemo and I can tell you the relief felt instant, I also felt as though I had taken control on the hair falling out.

I had a pixie cut put in after the first chemo, but I was very traumatized by the shedding but once I shaved my head I honestly felt better - pain wise and emotionally.

Its a Sh*t journey

Thanks for the reply. I took the leap before I read the reply and shaved today, I have my next and second chemo in 3 days and I totally agree a few tears shed while shaving but once I was done I felt much much better. Totally worth taking control and shaving it on my terms. I am sorry you had/have the same experience as me but totally appreciate the response.
