I had a WLE about ten years ago followed by chemo and radio and I am now in the all clear. The breast on which I had the surgery has now gone quite hard inside with red skin on the surface and an increase in size that has made me extremely lop sided. I have had a mammogram and an ultrasound and am assured it is nothing sinister just (just !) scar tissue and have to put up with it. It gets uncomfortable and as it is surrounding my nipple that gets irritated too.
Has anyone experienced similar and what did you do?
Hi LindaD2,
You may find it more helpful to speak to one of our trained specialists on the free Helpline, 0808 800 6000.
Alternatively you can ask one of our experts in the Ask Our Nurses area of the Forum and they can respond to you online.
Best wishes

Hello Linda
I’ve just searched on the BECCA forum and found your post. I had surgery in July 2018, followed by chemo and radio which finished in March this year. My breast has only just cooled down! But my scar has begun to itch and feels sore. Like you, I have a lumpy bit under the skin, although I had extensive physiotherapy here in France. My first year mammogram and check up were clear (?). May I ask what advice you were given? I have some special cream for scar tissue which I will begin to use again, but these things are always a worry, aren’t they?
SO GLAD to hear you are clear after 10 years. I’ll be 82!
