Yesterday I was told I have 2 lumps in my left breast, had biopsies taken and consultant said she’s 99% sure it’s cancer. I know how to wait until 18 dec for outcome. I’m so scared. Will any treatment happen before Xmas?
Hello @stafford22
Sorry you have to be in this position, waiting is the worse. Unfortunately they need two weeks to test the biopsy, so not a lot can be done about that. I was pretty certain mine was cancer (family history) before I had confirmation. On one hand you kind of feel prepared for the final answer but there’s no way of knowing until you get that result. Until then it runs over and over in your mind. Not nice at all.
Your biopsy result will determine what treatment you need. There are different types of breast cancer, some respond well to chemo, some don’t. Most people will need some type of surgery to have it removed. Some have chemo before surgery, or if like me, surgery first no chemo needed. Most will finish treatment with a course of radiotherapy. Its all takes time and in stages.
Long term, you may be on medication to inhibit any future growth/recurrence. That may be immunotherapy or hormone therapy for example.
Like I say, it all depends on your result on how you move forward. On a positive note, if you do need treatment, it will be scheduled and you can take some comfort in knowing it is being dealt with. The medical staff are wonderful, and offer lots of support. And this forum is also a good place to share your problems and get help from other in the same position.
I hope it goes well for you, but we are all here if you need anything. X

Thank you. I’m so worried. 2 weeks seems like forever waiting to know the stage of cancer etc
The worry and the waiting is awful, but be rest assured this is a wonderful place of support. We have all been there. Keep busy, get yourself out side and walk.
Once you know the score, it’s a step closer to getting things done and you’ll feel more in control. Baby steps, we’ve got your back
I feel you…… I had the the two weeks wait and it’s was the worst part unfortunately (mine was cancer) diagnosed Oct this year…… on treatment now but the waiting was by far the worst, strangely as that sounds!! Once you know, either way…… you can move forward and start the journey of getting better!!
You’ve got this!! Make sure you stay hydrated and eat well (I know it’s hard with stress) get outside for walks too, does the world of good, of even just sitting outside for a bit of fresh air!
Always message here or dm if you like! always here to chat!!
Sending love and positive thoughts!! Hoping you get a good outcome!!
Xxxx
Hi. Sorry you are in this position. The waiting and the unknown is one of the worst parts. I had a two week wait after biopsy and it was horrific, wondering about in a daze, couldn’t plan anything past the date of my appointment. I had surgery on Tuesday just there which was two weeks after diagnosis. I was Stage one, Grade 2 HR+ so they told me my proposed treatment plan and initial biopsy results at diagnosis, and gave me my surgery date. I then got an appointment letter through for the results from the Pathology post op, it was all very quick. Not sure where you are based (I’m in the UK) but my own experience is that it’s been quick so far. I’m like you and now have a period of waiting while getting over surgery.
The support and after care I’ve received has been great though, plus the network on here where you can ask questions.
Sorry to hear this. I was diagnosed on 3rd november & rreatment started 27th December. I think it would be unlikely that youll get any treatment befofe Christmas.
Treatment all depends on what type and size of tumour you have. Some people have surgery first, followed by radiotherapy. My tumour was pretty big so i had chemotherapy to shrink it befofe surgery then radiotherapy & more chemotherapy afterwards.
Its ok to be scared. I found the waiting to hear about diagnosis & treatment the worst. Once you know what youre dealing with & treatment starts it does get a lot easier.
Sensing you positive vibes x
