Went for breast screening last week, this morning receive a letter telling me I have to go for further tests. I’m scared upset, I’ve left a message for a nurse to contact me to explain further but as yet, nothing! I went to the doctors 3 years ago with breast pain he referred me to the hospital, all they did was look ask a few questions and told me it was okay, a couple of weeks later went for a screening and I never got called back, why would I this time? I’ve lost a lot of weight I was wondering if this would make a difference? I’m not going to the hospital until Monday but I’m crying I can’t eat, help please…

Hi Poppyissy123,
You really are at the worst part… The waiting to find out… Can I ask, was this a routine breast exam, or were you referred by a GP?
If it was a routine check, I can only assume that something has shown up on the mammogram? Can you feel anything at all?
It’s easy for me to say, and I’m the worst at taking my own advice, but try to occupy yourself to keep your mind off things until you go back to the clinic. It could well be that they have seen something that’s perfectly innocent, but they want to test it further to be 100% sure. They will always air on the side of caution.
Try not to worry yourself too much for now. Remember, nearly all lumps etc. turn out to be benign, so whatever reason they’ve called you back for, there’s a much higher chance it’ll turn out to be nothing, rather than something.
I know this waiting is torture. If you want to, please feel free to private message me.
Take care, Mel. X
