Hi. two weeks since first TC of 4 . Initial two days brilliant then nausea fatigue poor appetite horrible dry,/thick mouth .Then after a week gradually became human again even got taste back . What a relief
I’m wondering what to expect about second cycle am I likely to experience similar or does it get worse. ?
I should be attending a wedding bank holiday weekend I’m thinking I may have to cancel xx
I’ve literally said had my 2nd dose yesterday (2 of 4 TC)
I will keep you posted but so far I feel a tiny bit better & made these changes before cycle 2:
I drank 3-4 litres of water starting 3 days before chemo and managed this again yesterday (treatment day)
Nausea not as bad and taking tabs - 1st time I woke up in the middle of the night with AWFUL nausea
I properly swished/chewed ice during the ENTIRE Docetaxel infusion and haven’t woken up with that at horrible metallic taste & taking fluconzale right away to keep mouth thrush at bay (had this cycle 1)
One thing that did change was I had an allergic reaction this time to the Docetaxel (didn’t first cycle)
There was no panic though
I noticed throat constricting & face getting super hot/husband noticed I was beetroot so we called the nurses over who paused it
Gave me my next batch of steroids early and restarted slowing after 30 min
So I would say to just take care the first 15 min as allergic reactions can esp happen after cycle 1
Can keep you posted on how I feel this weekend after I’m off the steroids
Thanks for that please do keep me updated if you can I hadn’t thought about an allergic reaction second time around.
First time days 3-6 were a bit grim and I did think how can you keep on doing this but as soon as I had bits of day when I felt better I knew I’d keep going. So just trying to be prepared
Hope it goes o.k.for you xx
Don’t worry about reactions per se but defo pay attention to how you’re feeling first 10-15 min 2nd time round
I just was glad to feel it quite swiftly so the nurses dealt with it
Hi @sheils
Just an update from my 2nd TC
Pretty much the same recovery timeline albeit a bit more tired than before
I did sleep a ton days 3-4 to ride out the side effects so that helped but have so far done a long walk/20 min of Pilates within a week & back to wfh too
Hope this helps when working out your plans for after cycle 2
Xx
Good to hear from you glad it’s going well I can’t imagine how you manage to wfh as well.
Had such a good day Tuesday Tynemouth lunch long walk along beach and ice cream
10000 steps but crashed yesterday , although managed to go collect wig oh and a short walk to ice cream parlour (building up before chemo !)
Second of 4 tomorrow I expect to be really tired as I all ready am but that’s dealable.
How many cycles are you going to have ?
Thanks for update and hope you’re keeping well and having treats x
I’m having 4 so technically halfway
But it feels to be going slowly
(Unlike my hair loss which just won’t stop) ugh
