Second lobular after 8 years

I cannot believe that I have just been diagnosed with lobular cancer AGAIN, 8 years almost to the day from last time. Still waiting on histology. Is there anyone else in the same boat? It feels worse the second time around, and I thought that the first time around was bad enough. I had asked for a prophylactic mastectomy eight years ago and was told “We don’t remove healthy tissue”. If I had had it I wouldn’t be here now staring down the barrel of the same gun. Just lost my younger brother who was found dead in February and my mother-in-law died the week before last and the funeral is 200+ miles away on 2nd July, likely when I will be in the middle of all sorts. It’s all horrible and too much to cope with.

Welcome to the forum, we are all here for you with love and support.

Know exactly where you’re coming from, I never believed it the first time, so the second was a big shock, however I found the treatment much easier to cope the second time. I think everything has moved on so much with breast cancer.

So sorry to read your dealing with so much with the loss of your Brother and mother-in-law. Be kind to yourself. Chat with your breast cancer nurses, feel sure they will be supportive.

Wishing you well, please come back at let us know how your getting along.

much love Tili :rainbow::pray::rainbow::pray:

Hello,
So sorry to hear that you are going through this alongside such immensely distressing losses and events in your life.
I am also second time around with lobular four years and eight months after the first one. I did have a mastectomy but with clear margins and testing done during the procedure I was able to keep my nipple. I had an implant. The recurrence or new primary-apparently it’s a grey area and they can’t say which, was under the nipple. It’s worth taking a look at Liz O’Riordan’swebsite and story. She has had two local recurrences despite mastectomy and then going flat. So it doesn’t look like a mastectomy is a total guarantee at all.
Warmest wishes.
