Hi,
I had an appointment with the breast surgeon on Friday to get the results of an MRI scan. I was told I need a second look scan to investigate a small additional mass that had shown up during the MRI. After my appointment I found out that the this follow up scan has been booked for first thing tomorrow morning. I’m pleased I don’t have to wait too long but I’m anxious that the scan may also involve a biopsy. I struggled a bit in the appointment on Friday and didn’t think to ask what the process will be - I have generally found it quite difficult to work out what to expect but want to be prepared for tomorrow.
I had a biopsy 5 weeks ago at my initial breast clinic appointment and then 2 weeks later, just when the pain had subsided, had a second, stereotactic biopsy. I found the second one very painful and, 3 weeks on, my breast still aches (on Friday they said there was a large heamatoma under the biopsy site) and my nipple is very sensitive. The discomfort is a constant reminder of what has happened and I had really hoped I was done with biopsies now. Should I be prepared that a 3rd biopsy will be taken tomorrow morning or is it likely will I be asked to come back at another time if it is determined one is needed?
If anyone has been for a second look scan and can share their experience I would be very grateful xx
