Hi all,
I was diagnosed in 2022 with TNBC, had a complete response to chemo, finished treatment in Dec 22. I was 39 years old, now I am 41.
Last week I found another lump after a gym session (shooting pain) in the other breast. I’ve been to see my consultant. He felt this and as there was no radiographer available had a look in the ultrasound himself. He said it did not look like a cyst. He seemed worried and has sent me for biopsy which is happening tomorrow.
All my genetic tests came back clear in 2022. Could this really be another primary breast cancer again? I am young and healthy. I exercise. I don’t smoke and I limit alcohol. Of course I knew there was a chance of a reoccurrence but my consultant has explained this would be a new primary as it’s in the other breast, not a reoccurrence.
hope your biopsy goes ok today, till the results from that come back you do not have breast cancer. Please ring the number on here if you can and also post in the ask the nurse section, they will speak to you or provide information to you also others will pop on here to and offer their own experience everyone’s here, please let us know how you get on Shi xx
I’m hoping the nurses pick it his up too if you can’t phone the number on her do let us know how biopsy goes, everyone’s here as much or as little as you need Shi xx
I’m TNBC at 61 !! 1st episode. My understanding is that the local recurrence rate in the first 3-5 years is as high as 20%, so a new primary is unfortunately a possibility xxx
Mathsmum so sorry to ask, but I wondered if you had an update as to whether this was indeed another recurrence? My daughter has just been diagnosed at 30 with TNBC and it worried me that it might come back again at a later date, assuming she gets the all clear one she has completed her current treatment plan. Thank you. I sincerely hope you’re okay. Best wishes.
Hi - this is a new primary breast cancer, not a recurrence of my last one. This is in the opposite breast. This time I will have a double mastectomy and am being sent for more gene testing. I had breast cancer in my right age 39 (2022) and now in my left age 41 (2024). I don’t think life will ever be the same again. I can hardly believe this is happening again.
So sorry to hear what you’re going through @mathsmum. As you say, it is unbearable to be going through it again. I hope though, that in the midst of this awful time, that you can pat yourself on the back for noticing and getting it checked out so very swiftly. That is going to benefit you so much, rather than burying your head in the sand. It sounds like your swift action has enabled your team to get a thorough plan together for you very quickly, and I hope that may be giving you some reassurance.
Wishing you all the very best and hoping that you are able to sleep and get some respite from worrying about it all xx
Oh @mathsmum I’m so sorry to hear this. I apologise for not replying sooner as it’s been very busy here as you can imagine. Please know we’re all rooting for you, along with everyone else having to go through this. My daughter is currently doing well so we’re hanging on to that. I wish you all the best of luck that you can get through this successfully again xx
