Im feeling so low today. Just spoke to my consultant and there are areas around my lungs and stomach that look suspicious and he said that i should be prepared for it to be cancer. But if it is it means its secondary. And its looking like it could be inflammatory breast cancer. Im just gutted and i know theres treatment to prolong my life but im scared. Ive told my mum and sister and they’re upset too. Ive still got to talk to other family members but im really struggling to cope
Amy Please do use the number on here and speak to a nurse and also the someone like me option You are never alone and breast cancer now is here for you Shi xx
Hi Amy, I can fully understand how worried you must be at this stage. However, I’ve always thought that it’s good to share, as you are by coming on here and talking to your family. There is a wealth of expert knowledge here, and as Shi says, why not phone in and get some of it. (Do not google as that info is out of date. )It’s no use saying not to worry, as if that would help , but I would say that there are loads of treatments out there, and not all invasive. I’ve got mets in both my lungs and wobble along on a couple of tablets a day. Literally wobble…I’m overweight and 73, so old as well! No one wants a diagnosis of cancer, but your medical team are your champions and will do what is right and good for you. Please keep in touch and let us know how it all goes and if there’s anything we can do for you. Good luck, and big hugs. X
Hi Amy, it’s understandable that you feel low as it’s a lot to absorb and accept. It’s also going to be just as tough for your family because when one person has cancer it’s felt by everyone around them. As Shi said, it may be a good idea to chat with the nurses on here. Make sure you stay tied in with people on here who can support you from experience. It can be really hard to share your fears with your loved ones as you often want to stay brave and positive around others. Try some grounding techniques to reduce your anxiety and stay in the moment. This is a form of mindfulness and can involve visual focus, touch, smells and music. There are lots of “guided imagery meditation“ albums online which I found really helpful in the early days. Here’s a useful guide which may help a little: healthline.com/health/grounding-techniques
Sending hugs. Xx
