My mum has recently been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in her brain and lymph node under collar bone. She is 62 and otherwise very healthy.
her original breast cancer was 13 years ago and non hormone type
she had a mastectomy and 12 nodes removed and chemo.
following a period of dizziness in April she was diagnosed with a massive brain tumour. This was partially removed (some attached but mostly removed) by surgery. Tests show both this and the lymph node are secondary cancers from the original breast cancer
they are saying she needs while brain radio- not gamma knife which I’m confused about as it was a single mass. Also chemo for the lymph node.
everything I read paints a dim outlook, do anyone have any advice or real life situations that are similar??
im also trying to find out about cbd oil as I’ve read it is proving to be successful in treating secondary cancers and stopping further spread…
any advice or experiences would be appreciated xx
Hello rachy
Welcome to the forum and what a good daughter u are to be trying to get help and information for your mum.
I’m afraid I’m not much help as far as this is concerned …hospitals all seem to have different ideas on how to deal with brain mets. We do have a thread on brain mets you might like to read through. .if you just use search box …you should find the thread.
Just for info …mine came back after 11 years too …it’s not unusual from what I read here that it happens often. Bc is crafty …it can hibernate after primary treatment and just as we start to recover and forget about it …it reactivates itself and parties in the body!
I hope your mum gets the right treatment and recovers well …
Hugs xx
